Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I vote for Gary Oddi?

A: TVUSD School Board Trustees each represent a geographic area within the TVUSD boundaries.
Find your trustee area on the district’s map

If you’re a registered voter who lives within the boundaries of Trustee Area 2, you can vote for Gary. Trustee Area 2 runs roughly from Margarita Rd on the west to Nicolas Valley Rd.

Q: Who is the current trustee for area 2?

A: The seat is currently vacant. Danny Gonzalez was elected as trustee for area 2 in November 2022.

He resigned his position in December 2023 and moved to Texas. The remaining trustees could not agree on an appointee to replace him, so the seat remains vacant until the upcoming November 2024 election.

Trustees are elected for a term of four years. But since Gonzalez’s term would have ended in November 2026, the trustee elected this year will serve only until then (two years).

Q: Is the trustee area the same as my city council member area?

A: No. The school district covers a lot more area than the City of Temecula. For example, French Valley and Temecula Wine Country are not within city limits, but they are within TVUSD boundaries.

The City of Temecula has no control over the Temecula Valley Unified School District. The district and the city work together on issues and projects that affect them both, but they are separate. There’s no governance relationship between the two.

Q: How do I register to vote?

A: To register, to re-register if you’ve moved or changed your name, or to change your political party, visit https://registertovote.ca.gov/ and complete the online application. Students who are 16 or 17 years old can pre-register here to vote when they turn 18. You can also check your registration at this site to verify your address or other information.

To vote in the November 5, 2024 election, make sure you register online before October 21. That way you’ll get voter information and your ballot in the mail. If you miss the October 21 deadline, you can still vote: see Same Day Registration.

Q: How do I vote?

A: Every registered voter in Riverside County receives a mail-in ballot. You can complete your ballot at home and return it by mail, at a secure drop box, or at a polling location before polls close. Or you can vote in person at Vote Centers on or before November 5. If you mail your ballot, it must be postmarked by November 5 and received by the Riverside County Registrar of Voters (ROV) no later than November 12, 2024.

Your ballot information should list the location and hours for drop boxes and Vote Centers.

Q: How will I know my ballot was counted?

A: You can verify that your ballot was received and counted using Where’s My Ballot?
